Missing the big picture!?

When the selectors announced the ODI team for the upcoming WI tour, I was really disappointed that Laxman failed to make the cut...........once again. It is disappointing to see such a valuable talent being wasted time and again while players of lesser talent and class are being promoted & pampered despite their continued lousy failures.

My cause for worry is that, despite the recent heroics of the Indian team, our middle order is still of a great worry. They don't look as powerful on the field as they seem to be on paper. There seem to be one too many collapses of the top order.........though contained by a brilliant lower order revival most of the times. I mean it's ok against a lesser team ......but the same situation at the World cup and that too against a stronger opposition like Australia/SA/ENG., would really prove costly.

A player like Laxman in the middle order would provide the required stability with his able judgment of the game and any kinda bowling attack. Along with Dravid, he could steer the team through rough patches in a game and thus making it easy for the rest of the order to go out attacking. For some strange reasons, the team think tank at present seems completely oblivious to the clear weak link in our team and continue to ignore a player like Laxman.

It's one thing to promote young blood, but it shouldn't be at the cost of ignoring the larger interests of the team.

I hope they would realize this soon, before it is too late.

P.S. : Here is the combination that i think the team should stick with upto the world cup....

Playin' XI:
Veru, Sachin, Laxman, Dravid, Yuvraj, Raina, Dhoni, Pathan, Bhajji, Sreesanth, Munaf

Reserves:
Kaif ,Venugopal Rao, RP Singh, Kumble, Powar & Agarkar.
